Riverdance Detroit Theatre reviews
Show varies in experience
We saw the show both Friday and Saturday evenings in Newark. We had seen the show previously in Knoxville and in Atlanta.
Overall, the show is very good but the quality of the show definitely depends on which performers are in the show.
The lead dancers on Saturday night were much better than the leads on Friday night (the ones on Friday night were good but just not as good as the ones on Saturday night).
A key musician (Haley Richardson - the violinist) was not part of the show on Friday night so the violin music was prerecorded. Haley is an excellent musician (think Lindsey Stirling but better) and she brings and enthusiasm to the show that carries over to the other musicians and to the dancers. Without her, the Friday show did not include the number with her and Mark Alfred (the drummer extraordinaire) and the act between the Irish dancers and the street dancers did not have the same power.
Thus, overall, the Saturday show was a 10 while the Friday show was an 8. Yes, I know, you go to the show to see the dance numbers but you want the complete package and Friday was not it.
